MARY JANE KNIGHT, MEZZO-SOPRANO
Considered a “renaissance woman of music” Mary Jane Knight is noted for her warm, rich tone, versatile style, soulful connection, and magnetic stage presence. As a concert soloist, she has sung with the Memphis Symphony in Bach’s B Minor Mass as well as Jennifer Higdon’s Ruminations featured on a PBS special “Articulate” and live film score showing of Joan of Arc with the composer George Sarah. Other major works include Bach’s Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott, Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, Handel’s Messiah, and Haydn’s Harmonie Messe at Carnegie Hall. A talented and diverse musician, performer and director who is an accomplished keyboardist, Mary Jane is a music educator who possesses the ability to teach the very young to the very old. She received her B.M. from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, and her M.M. degree at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
