Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Mozart’s Grand Mass

A program of beauty and momentum

Gaining unstoppable momentum over the course of centuries, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 is considered the epitome of Beethoven’s life and musical style and one of classical music’s most recognizable works. With its unmistakable opening theme, this symphony has lost none of its charm or energy throughout the centuries. It  has been used in movie soundtracks ranging from Saturday Night Fever (1977) to Breakfast Club (1985) to Fight Club (1999).

Mozart’s Mass in C minor, K. 427, nicknamed the “Grand Mass,” is the most elaborate and monumental of Mozart’s choral works. Writing for double chorus, soloists, and full orchestra, Mozart was inspired to write the Mass by his then-fiancée, Constanze Weber, and the influence of J.S. Bach is strongly felt. The splendor of this beautiful piece will thrill and delight you.
