Andrew von Oeyen replaces Gutierrez
The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park has just been informed that Horacio Gutièrrez, the featured performer on the March 28 Visiting Artist series recital, has fallen ill. We are very lucky to have secured an outstanding replacement who will be flying directly from Paris specifically for this engagement. Andrew von Oeyen is a critically acclaimed pianist with an elite international performing résumé who rose to the public spotlight in America in July 2009 when he played with the National Symphony Orchestra under Erich Kunzel for “A Capitol Fourth” celebration, broadcast nationally on PBS stations. Von Oeyen’s program features several works from his recent recording, including pieces by Berg, Beethoven, and Liszt.
On this program, Mr. von Oeyen will be performing:
Sonata in B minor by Berg
Sonata No. 23 in f minor, Op. 57 “Appassionata” by Beethoven
Vallée d’Obermann (from Années de Pèlerinage) by Liszt
Elsa’s Bridal Procession (from Lohengrin) by Wagner/arr. Liszt
Rigoletto Paraphrase by Verdi/arr. Liszt
