Stradivari Quartet takes you on a historical journey

The Bach Festival Society is pleased to host the Zurich-based Stradivari Quartet on its Visiting Artists and Fred Rogers Family Series. Presenting works by Schubert, Turnia, Bartok, and Brahms, the Quartet showcases a varied program as diverse as its membership, with players of Polish, Chinese, English, and Swiss backgrounds. The New York Times says the quartet is ‘distinguished by impressively refined sound,’ and Strad Magazine has commented on their ‘refined sonority.’

Each piece on the program Four Strads, Four Stories highlights one of the Quartet’s Stradivari instruments. The Stradivari Quartet will perform on the Visiting Artists Series on Friday, November 6 at 8:00 p.m. and on the Fred Rogers Family Series on Saturday, November 7 at 11:00 a.m. The Family Series program is an informal hour-long performance and a great way to introduce your family to the power of music.

Quality and myth have made Stradivari one of the best known cultural (and cult) brands in the world. Of the1,100 legendary stringed instruments that the industrious and tireless Stradivari made right into his old age, approximately 650 invaluable treasures remain, including an estimated nine violas and 50 cellos. Hearing this quartet of all Stradivari instruments is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
