Mendelssohn’s Elijah promises excitement and drama

The Bach Festival Society celebrates the 200th anniversary year of Mendelssohn’s birth with presentations of his choral masterwork Elijah on Saturday, October 24 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 25 at 3:00 p.m. This dynamic piece of music tells the story of the Old Testament prophet Elijah, with solo voices playing individual characters and the choir acting in various group roles. The work will be performed by the renowned Bach Festival Choir and vocal soloists, accompanied by the Bach Festival Orchestra under the direction of John V. Sinclair.

Richard Stoltzman to perform in 75th Annual Festival

The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park is pleased to announce the addition of GRAMMY award-winning clarinetist Richard Stoltzman to the 75th annual Bach Festival. Mr. Stoltzman will perform Mozart?s Clarinet Concerto with the Bach Festival Orchestra on Saturday, February 27, 2010, on the Festival?s Mendelssohn and Mozart program. more »

Bach Festival celebrates 75 years!

In February 2010, the Bach Festival Society will host its 75th Annual Bach Festival, marking the Bach Festival Society’s 75th consecutive year presenting great choral masterworks to Central Florida residents and visitors. Sing, O Ye Heavens CD wins National Award

The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park is pleased to announce that its first nationally distributed CD, Sing, O Ye Heavens: Moravian Sacred Vocal Music Performed by the Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra, has won a second place Just Plain Folks Music Award in the Classical Voice/Opera Choral Category for 2009, competing against 10 nominees. This year Just Plain Folks screened 42,000 albums and 560,000 songs submitted for awards.
